A fire extinguisher is a device which is used to control the small fires; it is the first step to control the fire. In the emergency situations it is used but it can’t control the fire which has spread too much i.e. which has reached the top of the room. Fire extinguisher consists of a cylinder and it contains the extinguishing material and also there is a pressure vessel which is discharged and helps to stop the fire.

You can place it in your houses, Offices, Schools, Buses, etc. They are very helpful as you can save yourself from the fire by controlling it from the beginning. Till the fire brigade reaches the area you can escape from the area by using this device. Before placing it anywhere firstly search the area where you can keep it and what can be the reason for the fire that could occur there, place accordingly as every type of extinguisher has its own feature and purpose to work. Fire extinguisher Classes are:


Class A:

Class A type of fire extinguisher is used to control the fire which is caused by the combustible things like wood, plastics, paper, cloth, textiles, etc. Class A extinguisher contains dry chemicals and also the element water which controls the heat. They are represented by symbol A which is enclosed in the triangle. Triangle can be of green color.

 

Class B:

Class B extinguishers are used to extinguish the fire which is caused by the origin of liquids i.e. fire caused by gases, gasoline, etc. It is used to cover the fire as it provides the fire by providing oxygen to it, which will further control the release of inflammable vapors. It is marked with square containing letter B. The color of the square is preferably red.

 

Class C:

This type of fire extinguisher helps to control the fire which is caused by the electronic equipments. The agents present on these extinguishers are those which do not conduct electricity. It can be used immediately after the removal of equipment from the electronic source. They are represented by enclosing letter C in a circle. Color of the circle can be blue.

 

Class D:

Class D types of extinguishers are used to control the fire which is caused by the flammable metals like magnesium, sodium, titanium, etc. They contain the agents which do not react with the metal and stops the flames. Class K:

This type of extinguisher is used to control the flame which is occurred due to fuel such as cooking fats, grease oils, etc. It works for the saponification. They are usually marked with the letter K.
