A fire extinguisher is basically a flame extinguisher device i.e. which is used to control the fire in emergency situations. But it is not used for the fire which has spread too much i.e. which has reached the top of the room or the area. It can only stops or control the small fires only. Typically it consists of a hand-held cylindrical pressure vessel which can be used to discharge and to extinguish the fire. 

Fire- extinguishers can be placed in houses, offices i.e. it can be placed in any place where you think that fire can takes place. It is very important to check out the areas which require the fire extinguisher classes. Every extinguisher has its own purpose so it should be use wisely. If you are placing the extinguisher you should also know about them placing work is not enough, you should have the knowledge of the function of the extinguisher you are using and also how to use that kind of extinguisher.

According to the place you can place the extinguisher as per their class. Classes of extinguishers are:

Class A

This class fire extinguisher is used to extinguish fire which is caused by the common flammable items such as wood, plastics, textiles, paper, cloth etc. Class A Fire extinguishers controls the fire as it contains some dry chemicals and also some water which absorbs the heat. They are generally marked by the triangle containing symbol A.  Triangle should be green in color.

Class B

Class B fire extinguishers are meant to control the fire caused by the liquids originators i.e. gases, gasoline, etc.  They work by stopping the fire chains by preventing the release of inflammable vapors then it covers the fire by providing it oxygen. They are marked with the letter B inscribed in a square symbol. If it is in color then the square should be in red in color.

 

Class C

These fire extinguishers are good in fighting with the fires which are caused by the electrical equipments. These extinguishers are consists of the extinguishing agents that do not conduct electricity. The Class C extinguisher can be immediately used when the equipment is disconnected from the electric source. They are generally marked by the letter C inscribed in a circle. And the color of the circle should be blue.

 

Class D

These extinguishers are eligible to fight from the fire that is caused by the burnable metals such as the magnesium, titanium and sodium. These types of extinguishers need the agents so that it will not react with the metal which is burning. These extinguishers are normally marked with a five point painted star containing letter D and the star can be of the color yellowish color.Click here to get more information about extinguishers classes.

Class K

These extinguishers are used to control the fire which is caused by the fuels such as cooking fats, cooking oils, grease oil, etc. It totally focuses on the saponification. They are simply marked with the letter K.
